Presbycusis – Age-Related Hearing Loss

Hearing is a fundamental sense that connects us to the world around us, allowing us to communicate, enjoy music, and stay aware of our environment. However, as we age, our bodies undergo various changes, and one common yet overlooked change is age-related hearing loss, also known as presbycusis. This gradual decline in hearing ability affects millions of individuals worldwide and has profound implications for their quality of life.

Whilst this is a natural part of the ageing process, there are steps that can mitigate its impact and improve the quality of life for those affected:

  • Regular hearing check-ups
  • Hearing aids
  • Communication strategies
  • Assistive Listening Devices
  • Lifestyle changes
  • Education programs

Kent ENT Partnership is here to help and support our patients with presbycusis. During an appointment, a full medical history and examination of the ears will be undertaken. Investigations and treatment will be discussed and a management plan put in place. We can refer you for a hearing assessment with our preferred Audiologist, Mr Andriy Drypen, but also have other Audiology Departments we refer to on a regular basis.

If you would like to book an appointment or find out more, please contact the Practice Management Team. We offer appointments across Kent with clinics in Maidstone, Ashford, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells. We look forward to hearing from you!
