Hello Spring! I’m sure, like us, everyone is looking forward to the longer days and warmer temperatures once the clocks go forward this weekend. It’s been a very busy start to the year for Kent ENT Partnership, with clinic availability increasing across all hospital sites. We now have multiple clinics a week at KIMS Hospital, Maidstone, One Ashford Hospital, Sevenoaks Medical Centre and Spencer Private Hospital in Ashford, where we also offer regular operating lists for children.
Robert Hone and Ali Al-lami now work in collaboration with Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team, therefore streamlining the pathway for patients being looked after in the West Kent region.
Our NHS robotic workload has also increased, and we are now offer robotic procedures for private patients via the NHS Trust.
Ali has been busy with his teaching commitments at the Kent & Medway Medical School and has recently completed a component for the multidisciplinary robotic surgery students. He has also successfully completed the second King’s College London Quality Improvement Project – aimed at improving the patient journey and functional outcomes assessment for patients undergoing robotic surgery at East Kent Hospitals. Ali is also supervising two medical students over a two-year long research project to study cancer and the functional outcomes for patients undergoing robotic surgery for head and neck cancers.
Robert has started performing head and neck ultrasound scans with the Radiology Department to develop his skills. He plans to start a one-stop neck lump clinic to ensure faster diagnostic times and provide better patient pathways.
We had an exciting meeting with Mr Andriy Drypen, Audiologist at All Ears! Independent Hearing Specialists (see photo). With 16 years of experience in hearing and balance assessments as well as rehabilitation, Andriy’s specialist interests lie in paediatric hearing assessments and balance investigations and rehabilitation. We are so please to be working in association with him. Our collaboration offers a truly comprehensive and integrated Audiological service to everyone in Kent and the surrounding areas and ensures a faster diagnostic process.
