October 2021 Round-Up

The Kent ENT partnership is now fully established – offering services at One Ashford hospital and KIMS hospital. We are hoping to start a new service at Spencer hospitals in November 2021.

It has been a busy month for Ali Al-lami and Robert Hone – both clinically and from an educational point of view. Ali has had his first private operating list at KIMS Hospital as has become busier in his outpatient clinics; whilst Robert has now started offering clinic appointments and services at KIMS hospital. Within their NHS practice, the PATHOS trial for throat cancer treatment (including robotic surgery treatment) is now well established for the benefit of their patients. Both consultants are receiving excellent feedback from patients which makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Ali Al-lami was chosen to give a talk at the Royal College of Surgeons’ presidential visit to East Kent on the subject of establishing the robotic service in Kent. This was well received. He also gave an educational update talk on thyroid gland pathology and management to General Practitioners at the Charing surgery in Kent. He has also been busy organising the course for future ENT Consultants which helps them pass their board certification exam; with profits going to a charitable educational fund.

Robert Hone has been busy with audit lead and junior doctors’ educational supervisor duties. Both Robert and Ali have actively participated in the regional tumour site specific group meetings for thyroid and head and neck cancers in October. They have both attended the local ENT department audit meetings.

Aside from their professional responsibilities, during the October school half term, both Ali and Robert have been busy entertaining their families and young children. Robert sharpened his rugby skills with the Guy’s Hospital rugby veterans tour to Jersey, making it through to the finals of the tour. Robert and Ali were pleased to see their beloved Arsenal football team do well recently – making their trips to north London to see them play live worthwhile!

As always, we wish our patients the best of health and our doors are always open to you if you need us.
